Tips for Raising A Happy Child

As a parenting guide for the new moms, here in this article I am going to reveal eight invaluable tips for raising a happy child. These submissions are the outcome of a discussion among a group of renowned child Psychologists of long experience on the subject in an informal meet, where I had the opportunity to be present.

The topic of the conversation in the meeting was about parenting guide for new moms to bring up happy children and develop their personalities, which may ultimately help them to face and tackle any unforeseen situations in future with confidence, courage and determination. What came out from the discussion may be summarized in nutshell that the following are the eight most important tips for raising a happy child by the new moms which would go a long way to enrich our society.

1. The most important tips on parenting guide for the new mothers for raising a happy child is, continue breast feeding your child till he/she no longer needs it. Mother’s milk contains many immune mechanisms which help to keep your baby healthy. Anything other than breast milk, even a bottle of sugar water, can destroy many of these immune mechanisms. Breastfeeding has many beneficial effects on both mother and the baby. A recent study has found that babies who are breast fed for several months develop fewer behavioral problems in early childhood than those who are bottle-fed. Another study has further found that breast feeding helps babies to attain academic success by the early age of 10. Breastfeeding also produces many hormones which help mothers to be more tolerant and loving, which eventually makes parenting easier. A recent US study found that mothers who breastfeed for at least six months, may have a somewhat lower risk of developing high blood pressure later on. A breast-feeding mother and her baby shares sleep sequences and dreams in harmony and so the mother is less likely to be roused by her baby during dreams or from deep sleep. At the end of the day, a revitalized mother after a sound sleep is a tolerant mother and a happy and healthy baby is always a thing of joy!

2. As a parenting guide for new moms another important tips for raising a happy child is to remember that it is most important for responsible mothers to give company to her child as much as possible. This would help the child to grow into a loving and trusting adult;

3. Your child needs your presence at bed time. Do share bed with your baby during sleep. Your instant compassionate reaction to baby’s cry during sleep comforts the baby about his/her importance to you. This increases your baby’s emotional connections with you. This small parenting indulgence is not going to spoil your child!

4. Always keep in mind that punishing a child creates anger and obliterates confidence in him which hinders the child's learning process and spoils relationship between mother and the child;

5. Do not plan your second baby to share your attention till your child gets plenty of time to grow his enough sense of trust. A spacing of 3/4 years garners huge emotional benefits for each child;

6. Signs of bad behavior in a child are nothing but manifestation of un-fulfilment of his basic needs during the growing period. Therefore, another most vital tips for raising a happy child is to see things from the point of view of her child and not to deprive him/her from her undivided attention and the comforts of her kisses, eye contact and bonding touch of breast feeding which are essential ingredients of raising a happy child;

7. The strong and positive bond between you and your child, naturally achieved during the process of breast feeding and shared sleep, help to develop your baby’s early verbal and emotional traits which eventually help to provide him/her a rewarding life paving the path towards happiness;

8. Another important tips for raising a happy child, is that it needs to be remembered that the best gifts a mother can give her child are her patience, undivided attention and some exclusive quality time on a regular basis. Therefore, as a parenting guide for new moms, a mother should make it a habit of reading story books to their children by scheduling a time everyday when she is available without interruption. The stories reach the child in a deep way and help him/her to apply his/her imagination to the people and places. The child will remember and cherish such exclusive attention and company of her mother throughout his/her life.

Hi! I instantly clicked to see what's in here. Boy, am I glad I did. I breastfed all kids, three boys, now aged 16, 15 and seven. With their dad often off for weeks at a time, each had a good share of sleeping beside me and gotten utmost attention. Being a stay-at-home mom helped me raise great, happy boys. At the same time, striving to do things that make me happy, give me peace and calm, and actually sharing happiness with them helped a lot, too. Of course, it all boils down to parenting. Regardless of what careers, how much time we have and our modes of discipline, parenting has a lot to do with raising happy kids. Keep posting. I just love it!
